Gray Wolf (Canis lupus)
Wolves Welcome In Western Colorado and North Central New Mexico
Survey Finds 66% Bi-partisan Support for Wolf Restoration
In 2001, an independent public opinion survey, conducted by the nationally recognized polling firm Decision Research, revealed that two-thirds of voters in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona--66% of those polled--support the restoration of wolves to their natural habitat.
This poll clearly demonstrates that the majority of residents from the Southwest overwhelmingly support wolf restorations. The survey was conducted by the independent polling firm Decision Research and sampled residents from across the states.
The poll also revealed strong support for assuring that large, interconnected lands, rather than small isolated areas are available for wildlife reintroduction and protection. Protecting wildlife such as wolves, and the wild places they call home, will provide important educational opportunities for our children and recreational opportunities for the people throughout the Southern Rockies.
